India has recorded more than 20 million Covid infections
Official daily Covid infection levels are in the 400,000 per day level though officials say the daily rate is falling. However, there are reports of a lack of access to testing. Hospitals have been overwhelmed by infected people and oxygen is in short supply. More than 220,000 people have officially died but many people say the figure is much higher. Yesterday India recorded its highest daily deaths rate with 3689 deaths in 24 hour period. This record is likely to be surpassed soon. India is not in national lockdown. Many have called for another national lockdown.
